February Update: Full Courts and Clear Voices
Greetings to our incredible partners and friends of Hearing Heart!
As we wrap up February, the energy on the ground is electric. We are moving into a season of massive growth, and it’s all thanks to the collective effort of this community. Here is a look at what we are building together:
🏀 The Jump-Off: Basketball League Starts March 7th
We are officially ready for tip-off! On March 7th, we are kickstarting our basketball league with six powerhouse teams ready to compete:
- The Nets
- The Thunders
- Kabale International Christian School
- Trinity College
- St. Mary’s Rusoroza
- Kigezi High School
The Nets and Thunders are teams A and B of Kabale University.
We are also pleased to share that we have secured full permission and cooperation from district officials, ensuring our league has the formal support it needs to thrive and impact the youth of our region safely.
🛠️ New Partnership & Court Renovations
In a major win for our infrastructure, we have entered a partnership with the former National Teachers College (NTC) to utilize their basketball court.
While the space is fantastic, it needs some “Hearing Heart” TLC to get it game-ready. We are beginning work on the court on February 28th.
Our Goal:
- Budget: 500,000shs
- Needs: Backboards, rings, paint, and brushes.
Your support in helping us hit this 500,000shs target will directly provide a high-quality space for these athletes to hone their skills.
🏐 Volleyball on the Horizon
The momentum doesn’t stop at the hoop. We are officially beginning preparations for our Volleyball League. We will be holding a critical preparatory meeting on March 4th to lay the groundwork for this new chapter of our sports ministry.
🎙️ Hearing Heart is Hitting the Airwaves
We are thrilled to announce that we have secured a 30-minute weekly slot on Radio Banyakigezi! This gives us a dedicated platform to share our mission, engage the community, and amplify the voices of the youth we serve.
The cost for this reach is 300,000shs per month. This is a vital investment in our community outreach and advocacy efforts.
